Generic Metaglip is made with a combination of glipizide and metformin, with the added benefit of microcrystalline cellulose, povidone, croscarmellose sodium, and magnesium stearate to help maintain healthy levels of blood glucose. Symptoms of lactic acidosis include:
a numb or cold feeling in your legs or arms, pain or weakness in the muscles, problems breathing, stomach pains, the combination of nausea and vomiting, decelerated or usual heart rate, dizzy feeling, extreme fatigue, exhaustion or weakness.
Seek immediate medical attention if you experience even the slightest symptoms of lactic acidosis.

Seek immediate medical attention if you experience any of the following serious side effects:
muscle pain, trouble breathing, shortness of breath, decelerated heart rate, stomach pains, chest pains, nausea, fatigue, lightheadedness, dizzy feeling, rapid weight gain, loss of appetite, discolored or darker urine or stool, pain or a burning sensation while urinating, extremely high blood pressure, vision impairment, buzzing in the ears, anxiety, disorientation, jaundice or seizures.

Less serious side effects associated with Generic Metaglip include:
headache, fatigue, upset stomach, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, sore throat, congestion or other cold-like symptoms.

Beta-blockers, calcium channel blockers monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs), nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) (including aspirin and ibuprofen), insulin, morphine, anticoagulants (including warfarin), birth control pills, diazoxide, diuretics, nicotinic acid, isoniazid, thyroid hormones, ranitidine, corticosteroids, amiloride salicylates, procainamide, sympathomimetics, gemfibrozil, chloramphenicol, azole antifungals, phenothiazines, probenecid, rifampin, digoxin, trimethoprim, thiazolidinediones, sulfonamides, phenytoin, quinidine, quinine, phenylbutazone, fenfluramine, clofibrate, cimetidine, vancomycin, or triamterene.
